Happy OSF Party People!
This weekend is going to be one of the most musically delicious of my young life. Tomorrow night, I’ll be in orgasmic heaven with your favorite crooner and mine, Maxwell. This will be my first time seeing him live and I didn’t have to sell a pint of blood to pay for my fourth row ticket! Just fortunate I guess 🙂 The show has been getting rave reviews so I’m beyond excited.
Sunday, I’ll be “leaving it all behind” with Foreign Exchange, better known as Phonte (of Little Brother) and super producer Nicolay. As you know, I have been totally and completely in love with this album from the moment I pressed play. So I’m hyped to see it come alive on stage. Of course I will bring what I can to you right here so stay tuned!
The theme for this week is songs from the year of your birth. As you may or may not know, 1977 was the year two of my favorite Stevie songs were released, “Sir Duke” and “I Wish”. For obvious reasons, I was so tempted to post those. However, I’m in a boogeying mood this weekend so I’m all about the disco. Man, I wish I was grown during the 70s. All that free love great shake-your-booty music! I would have LIVED at the disco.
Evelyn “Champagne” King, “Shame”
Heatwave, “Boogie Nights”
The Trammps “Disco Inferno”
Have a great weekend! I know I will!

The intensity and tempo of the music started to pick up around 1977 as the age of disco was ushered in. Your picks are some of the best to come out of that era and brought back fond memories.

Happy OSF lady!
Ahhh DISCO!! Shaking my young tail feather in my miniature bell bottoms and afro puffs!!! Well that is the account that I was given by my parents! Love the pics. “Shame” was my J-A-M!
you got me with the heatwave, gr8 gr8 song.
Have a nice weekend
Are we the only 2 born in 1977, boy was that was a phenomenal year. Two great people born in the same year.
I didn’t see Shame on any of the list, but I’m glad you found it. This is a feel good song.
I saw Boogie Nights, and I almost chose it, but then I discovered Easy by the Commodores, and I knew for sure I was going to chose Lionel, until I found Rose Royce.
This process was hard, because Areosmith’s Walk This Way, was on the list, too.
Here’s to 1977 – the best birth year in the theme.
UHHHH, I beg to differ about the “best year” thingie…hee hee hee…
LOVE the disco! Feel like I should be wearing a halter and some bell bottoms…
Enjoy the Maxwell, VIV!!
77′ was a great year for music! I LOVE Heatwave!

Such great music in 1977!
I posted a day late since I was on vacation. Thanks for your blessing. I had a great time in Georgia.

you picked three songs that i am really familiar with and that i like. Nineteen-seventy seven put out some good tunes, but ’79 wasn’t too shabby either-check me out 🙂

Awesome choices! I remember them well, but this morning’s review took me back…way back. You are a lover of music and it shows.
By the way, great pic of you on the sidebar—you have a beautiful smile!
