We’re revisiting the remakes theme this week because you never really can get enough of that funky stuff…when it’s done right.
Since we were on serious D’Angelo album watch earlier this week, I thought I’d keep the good vibes going by featuring a couple of his remakes he did – and did well. But then again, I’m probably biased. And don’t apologize for that.
Crusin, Smokey Robinson
Crusin, D’Angelo
Prince, She’s Always In My Hair
Ya’ll ain’t getting me shut down by the big bad web sheriff so I’m just linking up for this one. View it here.
D’Angelo, She’s Always In My Hair
For real, D’Angelo, if by the slimmest possible chance, you should ever read this, please stop fuggin around and get back to what you were put here to do. Seriously.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Head on over to the other OSF participants sites and keep the party going.
Cover versions rarely live up to originals but D’Angelo definitely hit the spot with these two picks. I also love ‘Your Precious Love’ with Erykah Badu.
VT, D’Angelo is one of the few that can do it like it’s supposed to be done. Great pick. Enjoy your weekend!
Ohh Mr. Archer and I have a volatile relationship! Remind me to tell you that story…lol But I still love him. My favorite is and will always be “Crusin” and “Can’t Hide Love” is my second. 🙂
Happy OSF lovely!
Smokey, now that man’s made lots of artists money.
I hadn’t heard these particular remakes, so thank you.
As for Prince. I wanted to do “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore” vs Alicia Keys version of the same song. But Prince makes it hard to find videos of him actually performing, and so I didn’t even bother looking.
Enjoyed the ride. Thanks.

Volatile relationship…yeah, TC…that explains it perfectly!
Nice pick!
I made a post earlier this week about D’Angelo’s comeback. He needs to hurry up! Great picks. 🙂
also ewf’s “cant hide love”
I just love me some D’Angelo! Those eyes! OOOO those eyes! Whew!
Smokey takes “Crusin” for me, but D’Angelo can sure put it down can’t he???
I hope we are not disappointed when his new stuff finally hits
I’m going with Smokey, that voice is just so smooth. D’Angelo did good but it’s so similar to the original that even D’Angelo likes Smokey’s version better.
