by vivrant thang on india arie new album
As you know, I’ve been highly anticipating India Arie’s fourth album, Testimony 2: Love and Politics. Her songs have definitely been key in my life.
Well tomorrow is the day – it will be available in stores and on Itunes for your listening pleasure.
Impatient like me? Want to try before you buy? Well the entire album is currently streaming on her Myspace page. I took a quick listen and the tracks that grabbed me immediately are “Yellow,” “Ghetto,” and “River Rise.” I’m looking forward to really spending time with this album and may review it. On first listen, I think if you liked her last album, you’ll have this one in constant rotation as well.
In case you’ve missed the video for the first single, “Chocolate High,” you can view it here.
You also still have several hours to enter the contest to win a free copy of the album with a side of India.Arie chocolate. Head on over to Soul Bounce and enter now!
Once you’ve listened, come back and let me know what you think!
I love Indie’s music, body of work, and brand. Nothing on this album jumped out and said BAMM! But that is par for a cursory pass-thru session. Usually when I am not looking for high-impact I will pick up what was previously overlooked. I am anticipating coming back for a relaxed, extended session. I will purchase this tho.
So I was at a CD store in MD on Saturday and they had her new CD on sale, which totally confused me because I thought it was coming out on Tuesday. So I took that as an opportunity to get a sneek peak and call myself getting an exclusive advanced copy (ha!) and I picked it up. It didn’t really move me on the first listen, but its been in constant rotation the past few days and there are a few songs that have caught my ear: Yellow, River Rise, He Heals me, and of course Chocolate High
I am loving the album.
Yellow and He heals me are my favs
“Yellow” is definitely the stand out for me on this album. Upon the first listen, I wasn’t really taken by a few songs, however that changed after the second listen. I have yet to give it another go (you know my 3 spin rule), but “Yellow” and “Chocolate High” are first on my list. 🙂
I love India Arie. Her lyrics r beautiful & whomever makes her music 2 support her lyrics does a fantastic job. Of all her cds I love her 2d VOYAG the best. I got TV2 on Tues from Target. Now IA neesd 2 just tour!
