OLD SCHOOL FRIDAY POST BELOW
by vivrant thang on maxwell is coming!
On Saturday, November 15 at the Landmark Theatre in Richmond, I’ll be fourth row center, gasping and swooning as this man reminds me why I’ve been in love since I pressed play on Urban Hang Suite twelve years ago. Why I still hold on even after seven whole years…and not a word from you.
If he flicks his sweat into the crowd, ya’ll pray some of it falls on me. Even though I’ll likely flatline and need medical attention.
Can’t forget that Jazmine Sullivan will be opening – which is the cherry on top. I should have spent considerable time with her album by then and will be excited to get a first live look at what she’s working with. You all know that’s how I measure whether I pump it or dump it. Whether I’m a stan or a lightweight fan. It’s all about how I feel when I’m watching this person perform inches away from me.
As always, I’ll do my best to bring my loyal readers and subscribers to the channel anything I can. It will likely truly be a labor of love and a test of my fortitude and slickery. Yes, slickery.
Tickets ain’t no joke so I’m sure many will have to pass on this show. I sacrifice and peanut butter and dine on peanut butter and jelly and Ramen noodles just for ya’ll.
Have a great weekend. I know mine is off to a great start.
*skips away from the computer*
PS I know he no longer looks like this but…I just want to hold on a little longer. Don’t judge me.
My date with Maxwell is on October 23…I am also 4th row, but left…I cannot wait!
I want to go, but the dates for the places that are close to me are in the middle of the week and the closest place is 3 hours away! WAH!!! 😦 Damn bills!
Let me tell you, it was such a nice surprise to see Maxwell’s face when I logged on to your page. I will be seeing Max too October 12 and I am so giddy with excitement. By the way, for those of you who don’t already know, there is a website dedicated to our Maxwell. You have to check it out. Many of Max’s fans are hoping to meet up prior to and maybe after the concerts. Go over and see who else from your area will be going to the same concert(s) as you. The site link is http://www.maxwellfanforum.com. You will enjoy the experience as much as I have and it will only get better. Come see for yourself, is all about Maxlove.
U a mess!
But if some sweat gets flicked, can you catch it and bottle it and send it to me?
LOL.
Vivrant, you and just about every woman who loves R&B music are about to lose y’all minds over Maxwell’s music I see. LOL. Handle your business then.
You and Ms M…I don’t know what to do about ya’ll and the Max! I ain’t mad at you though cause that’s how I feel about Frankie Beverly. I so glad he’s doing a little sumthin sumthin after all these years. Ya’ll have a great time!
I definitely missed the Maxwell boat …. I’m not sayin I don’t like the guy, I just never got round to purchasing any of his CDs ( He’s on the list, but the list is long, very very long ).
Listening to Viv and the ladies at SB it looks like I have indeed been missing out!! Might have to up him a few places and get my hands on his albums ASAP (although I think the chances of catching him live in the UK, along with anyone else worth hearing live, are slim to none!)
@sabrina – hold on girl! i’m sure more dates will be added.
@paulette – thanks for the info. will check it out.
@jj – naw girl, you got to get your own!
@sjp – well one thing fb and maxie have in common is that they both haven’t released anything in years!
@don – It’s like that and that’s the way it is.
@soul uk – His first album (Urban Hang Suite) is a MUST HAVE in any true soul music fan’s collection. it’s a classic. Get on that or I shall have to revoke your membership. LOL! But no, I believe he will come and tour in the UK after the album release. So don’t sleep!
My wife and I live in Richmond, Va. but we went to the Greensboro, NC show. All the good seats here were sold out. It was my luv’s birthday, so I got us seats in the very front row. I thought she was going to pass out when Maxwell came out. It was money well spent, the show was FANTASTIC, and I am including Jasmine Sullivan as well.
I saw Maxwell in Atlanta on Nov 12. I never screamed so much in my life!!!! But I’ll wait to read your review. You’re probably still trying to recollect yourself. :0) Yes, the concert was that damn good.
